Lambeth Council is still consulting on the introduction by Lambeth of Emergency School Streets, a scheme set up by the council to restrict vehicle access to streets around schools in the borough during pick up and drop off times. Emergency vehicles are still be able to access the road but in general road usage is deterred, including vehicles driven by parents to the school gates.
This initiative had first been reported at our second Community Conversation, and we first published on the scheme on our website on 4 September 2020.
In Norwood the schools taking part are:
- Hitherfield SW16 2JQ: Hitherfield Road closed from Mount Nod Road to Leigham Vale.
- Elm Wood SE27 9RR: Carnac Street closed from Hamilton Rd to Clive Road
- Julian’s SE27 0JF: Wolfington Road closed from Casewick Road to Knights Hill
- St Luke’s SE27 0DZ: Linton Grove closed between Basil Gardens and Elder Road.
We sought feedback on the schemes and have only heard positive views. Schemes have been implemented for a trial period of six months and views received under this consultation, by 11pm, Tuesday 2 March 2021, will determine whether the schemes will become permanent. Have your say here.
