G.Network cabling and road closures

G.Network are installing fibre optic cable under local roads and pavements to provide faster broadband to homes. This is part of a major programme underway across the UK for private companies to install fibre optic cable for broadband connection to the internet. The government plans for everyone to have access to the internet by December 2025 - the target date to complete the transfer of all land line telephone numbers to online.

Here is a map of works being undertaken in Knight's Hill Ward. The works inevitably require complete or partial road closures. We do not have dates for these works, and some have already been undertaken. Works in Broxholm and Glennie Roads (see separate story) and St. Julian's Farm Road are already underway.
