Volunteering opportunities this week

Age UK – phone friends
We’re right into winter now and with Covid still a topic of daily conversation, Age UK are still actively recruiting volunteers. Whether you would like to volunteer to have a 'phone friend' and be matched with an elderly member of the community and have a weekly conversation that will help and reduce isolation and loneliness, or you have some extra time and would like to help elderly members of the community who may be shielding or isolating - whatever way you may able to help, they would love to hear from you. Find out how to volunteer for Age UK Lambeth.

WLM St. Luke’s Kennington – money champions
WLM has been serving people affected by homelessness, poverty and trauma since 1887. They are part of the Methodist Church and run a wide range of services which empower people to make positive changes in their lives, offering support to individuals of all faiths and none, inclusively. They focus on empowering people affected by homelessness, poverty and trauma to make positive changes in their lives. WLM are running an online course for Money Champions, giving you solid information about what to do if you are worrying about money – reliable and essential information you can share with friends, neighbours, family and colleagues. You will learn what to do, what NOT to do and where to get help locally and online or by phone if you are struggling with money or in a debt crisis. Content includes causes of debt, active listening, motivators and barriers to seeking help, and how to signpost to local and national debt agencies. The course runs over two sessions - Saturday 30 January and 6 February 2021, 10am-12pm. Could you become a local Money Champion?
