Visual Communication and Design course for 18-30 year olds

198 Contemporary Arts are starting a ‘Fast Forward into…. Visual Communication and Design’ course on Thursdays and Fridays - commences late November. The course is for Lambeth residents aged 18-30 who are not in full time employment or education and are looking to get started in a career in the design world.

The core course will be 3 weeks long and will consist of a series of workshops delivered by an industry professional, with accompanying creative employability skills sessions looking at things like CVs, portfolios, cover letters, project proposals and more.

During the programme you will be introduced to key elements of visual communication and will work on a project, producing work to develop your skills and portfolio. Working with a design professional, Greg Bunbury, you will be given a real client brief to work from, as you get to grips with the process of creating an amazing design project.

You will be supported in this by Adobe training days, which will alternate with the ideation and creative process based days with our design professional. This is to support your technical delivery skills as you develop your ideas. We will spend time looking at identifying, cultivating and communicating purpose to get you into the career you want.

They also offer one-to-one support and group sessions as you make applications and land that job, contract or place to study - whatever your goal. This covers update your CV, have your portfolio reviewed, write a cover letter, funding application or project proposal.

PLUS £500 grants available to support your transition into a job. Cover for childcare and travel costs also available.
