Four new spaces for charging electric vehicles are coming to Norwood:
Gipsy Hill:
Carnac Street (off Gipsy Road)
Mountbatten Close (near the railway station). Plus an additional car club place.
West Norwood:
Casewick Road
St. Julians Farm Road (railway station end)
These spaces often replace existing car parking spaces and will operate 7am -10 pm on Mondays to Sundays; electric vehicles only may park in them and for a maximum period of 3 hours while charging. Notices are displayed at the locations concerned.
Electric vehicles contribute to improvements in air quality, especially nitrogen dioxide (NO2) levels and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The Council states these new electric vehicle charging spaces are necessary to meet demand and aid the transition to electric vehicles. The Council is currently committed to install over 200 charging points by 2022 (more than 30 are to be installed in the current tranche). If you want a charging point in your street, you can register your interest here.
